EPHE 455: Nutrition for Exercise & Health

The study of nutrition in the context of exercise, sport performance, and health. Skills I acquired from this course include the ability to develop exercise plans for varied populations, and well as a deeper knowledge of macro- and micro-nutrients and their interactions with performance.

EPHE 445: Development & Adaptive Physical Activity

Understanding strategies of inclusion and involvement of individuals with disabilities in recreation and physical activities in the community. I developed a further understanding of the Paralympics organization, how to involve individuals with varying disabilities into community activity programs, and learning about common disabilities.

EPHE 444: Measurement & Evaluation in Exercise Science

Assessment of physical performance and physique using laboratory and field methods. I created a test battery for youth and adult soccer players, and further developed my skills in evaluation and measurement in accordance with CSEP's aerobic and musculoskeletal assessments, and FMS screening.

EPHE 441: Exercise Physiology

Advanced knowledge of physiologic adaptation of humans for exercise demands. I became familiar with the administration and evaluation of direct treadmill VO2max tests.

EPHE 380: Motor Control

The examination of neural processes including the topics of postural control, goal-directed actions, and control of movement. The laboratory component required the development of a novice research project, and the completion of an accompanying paper.

EPHE 360: Exercise Prescription

The principles of fitness and development of exercise programs to enhance health and/or performance for a variety of populations including adults, children, athletes, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

EPHE 359: Fiscal & Legal Management in Recreation & Health

Examination of the budgeting process, goal setting, legal liability, financial control, and management of recreation and health related community services. Skills acquired from this course include a detailed understanding of the legal obligations associated with recreation centres, and the development of a Program Proposal for a hypothetical program.

EPHE 357: Introduction to Research

Introduction to qualitative and quantitative research approaches in the context of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education. Skills acquired include the development of a research proposal and a further understanding in critiquing research articles.

EPHE 344: Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries

Introduction to general athletic training practices. Field work included providing athletic therapy for the Vikes Women's Rugby team at games and practices. Lab work involved learning different taping and care of athletic injuries, as well as a brief introduction in massage therapy techniques.

PSYC 351A: Cognitive Psychology

Understanding of mental processes through the study of human behaviour via multiple methods.

PSYC 335: Infant & Child Development

An overview of child development through conception to 12 years of age. Understanding of development through a variety of approaches.

PSYC 332: Health Psychology

A study of health issues from the understanding of psychological, biological, and social factors acting together.
