CERTIFICATIONS & PROJECTS

Certifications

Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C

Expiry Date: March 23, 2020

TCPS 2: CORE Course on Research Ethics (Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans)

Completion of this certificate allowed me to begin my contribution to research as a Research Assistant for the PlayGame study at the Alberta Children's Hospital for children with mTBI's (mild Traumatic Brain Injuries), and my current work in the Behavioural Medicine Lab where I coordinate a study for Moms with dependent children to increase their physical activity using an online  platform aimed to improve motivation.

Projects

Behavioural Medicine Lab: Online Platform

As a member of a committee in the Behavioural Medicine Lab, I have collaborated with my fellow co-workers and supervisors to develop an accessible Online Platform as a future research project conducted through the BMed Lab. Unfortunately, as it will be part of a research study, I am unable to display the content. However, the project includes 10 lesson plans with information regarding physical activity, each with a different focus on behaviour change techniques and motivation to increase physical activity. I am currently running a pilot study using the online platform tailored for mothers with dependent children to determine the feasibility of the platform structure and content.

Behavioural Medicine Lab: App Development Team

I am also currently a member of a development team for an application in the BMed Lab. We are tailoring the content from the online platform into an app format to further improve engagement with the material. As I was involved in the content development of the online platform, I act as a consultant with the app's content team.

EPHE 455: Nutrition Guide

I took a Nutrition for Exercise and Health course from January to April 2017. In this course, I learned how to make a budget meal plan, the effect of hydration and different diet techniques on performance, and the appropriate macro- and micronutrient requirements in the context of athletic performance, physical activity, and exercise.
